In February 2008, TIA ratified the Category 6A standard. This standard sets forth the requirements necessary for enhanced performance of Augmented Category 6 (Cat 6A) cables. The standard extends the frequency of Cat 6A cables to 500 MHz, requires Cat 6A cables to support up to 100 meters, and adds requirements for Alien Crosstalk. Cat 6A cables can support future 10Gbit/s applications on a 4-connector channel. Category 6A cables are fully backward compatible with all the previous categories, including Category 6, 5e and 5.
Mohawk’s line of Category 6A cables meet all the ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 requirements, and come in a variety of jacket colors for both plenum and riser versions.
